New Edgecliff has been dangling hints for a concert performance of the dreamily romantic “The Baker’s Wife” for a while now. About a beautiful young wife with a much older husband in a small French town in the 1930s, “The Baker’s Wife” is scheduled for March 2008 in partnership with The Carnegie in Covington.
Although the cast is TBA, it looks like Greater Cincinnati is joining the growing list of theater-loving cities that applaud the chance to enjoy a concert-style “singing” of a rarely revived show.
The Carnegie has released a full docket for the first time since the renovated jewel box of a theater reopened 2 years ago. According to the calendar Cincinnati Black Theatre Company is taking up residence, with the revue “Satin Dolls” in March and Midwest Regional Black Theatre Festival entry “Brothers of the Knight” in May.
