 WHAT'S UP WITH DENISE DEVLIN

Denise Devlin (NKU ’07) is spending the weekend singing Maria in West Side Story for Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, then it’s back to New York.

While most young hopefuls are working restaurants or secretarial, Devlin has her fingers crossed that she makes the grade with Stage Star Records which produces Broadway karaoke CDs. Devlin’s first big break –- singing guide vocals for “The Little Mermaid.” If she makes the grade, there could be more to come.

Jackie,

What are your thoughts on the new Broadway Across America season?

Personally, I think it's weak. Wizard of Oz? Jungle Dreams? Give me a break.

I'm a student at IU in Bloomington and Jungle Dreams came to our measly auditorium two years ago. I would hope that a bigger market like Cincinnati could attract something better.

I was personally hoping we would land Spring Awakening or even Mary Poppins, just so we could see Ashley Brown. But maybe I'm just being too pessimistic. What's your take on the season?
