An Evening with David Ives Production Details
An Evening with David Ives Three of Mr. Ives funniest one act plays Co-directed by Rainee Angles and Benjamin Gullett In Sure Thing, two people (Benjamin Gullett & Honey Smith) meet in a cafe and find their way through a conversational minefield as a bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes, and faux pas on the way to falling in love. In Words, Words, Words, the philosophical adage that three monkeys (Toby Jones, Courtney Beekman & Amy Petzold) typing into infinity will sooner or later produce Hamlet is tested, and asks: What would monkeys talk about at their typewriters? And finally, in The Universal Language, Dawn (Alex Horsley), a young woman with a stutter meets Don (Lou Pfaehler), the creator and teacher of Unamunda, a wild comic language. Their lesson sends them off into a dazzling display of hysterical verbal pyrotechnics—and, of course, true love. Both, Sure Thing and The Universal Language, also feature Vanessa Gard. Performed in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium. |
