Local Guest Equity Artist Contracts

Acclaim created this award to benefit local Equity actors. The Equity Contract has proved to be a very popular award: there have been many applications and many questions. We have established a more flexible deadline and review process, and restated the guidelines and compliance rules.

Please read carefully.

There are no deadlines. We accept applications throughout the year to accommodate the casting practices of the smaller theatres. To facilitate this “rolling” review, we can only accept electronic applications.

The successful application (download) will receive an award of $2,500.

GUIDELINES

The award is exclusively for the salary of one (1) actor under an AEA Guest Artist Agreement or Special Appearance Agreement in Greater Cincinnati.
The actor named in the application must have proof of active, local residency.
The actor named in the application must receive the entire $2,500.00 award.
The producing entity must be

a professional, semi-professional or college-level theatre with an annual operating budget of less than $500,000.
a member of the League of Cincinnati Theatres.
and must contribute the costs of administering the award. These include but are not necessarily limited to: Equity Paymaster, Pension contribution, and Insurance fees.

The award is for the engagement of a specific actor in a specific role in a production. A casting change or production change invalidates the award, and the producing entity must notify Acclaim of such a change. The producer may ask that the award be transferred to another actor or production, but should not assume that it will be.
The award is for the season for in which it is granted.

Please note: Cincinnati Fringe Festival productions are not eligible for this award. It would violate the rules and spirit of that event.

GRANT COMPLIANCE
Acclaim administers the Equity Contract Award program.

Recipient theatres must credit Acclaim for the award in all publicity materials including the program, and file a brief report on production outcomes. Grant notification letters include suggestions for specific wording.

Award Payout Procedure
Once you complete your Equity paperwork and Acclaim has received a copy, we will release the award money.
