Actors Needed for Clermont Inn Production
Clermont Inn dinner theater has had to rearrange its schedule. We are now planning to do a play called Noir Suspicions, in June.
That's a short time schedule, so we're going to have to start working next week. The play is a takeoff on Casablanca and other Film Noir movies of the '30s and '40s - we especially need guys who can suggest Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre, etc.
Performances are June 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 (all Fridays and Saturdays). It will be over BEFORE the ACT convention. Rehearsals typically are Sunday afternoons and two or three evenings a week, at Clermont Inn. For those of you who are not familiar with Clermont Inn, it's in Batavia, Ohio. We perform acts of a short play between courses of a buffet dinner. We're estimating Noir Suspicions is actually about an hour of script, to give you an idea of how much material there is to learn. There is pay per performance, plus you get dinner after the show. If interested please send me your e-mail address, and a phone number where you can be reached Monday.

Men Needed For To The Rescue
Hi! I wanted to give any interested male performers one final chance to audition for two open roles for To the Rescue: A Christian Musical, which will have its world premiere production on June 13/14 here in Cincinnati.
We have a number of individuals auditioning this week (and last), but wanted to give out one final notice for anyone interested.
The following roles are still open:
- Harry is a male, 18 – 40 years old. He is polite and funny. At first he appears to be a blues guitar-playing street performer, but turns out to an angel (basic guitar skills not required, but is a plus). This is the lead in the show and needs to be a skilled actor and
strong singer. Baritone (or tenor). Has two solo songs, including a blues number.
- David is a 20 year old male. He is energetic and works as a bike messenger when not attending classes as a college student. Provides some comedy relief and has a fun solo song. Great opportunity for a college student or mature high schooler. Tenor (or baritone).
If you are interested, please call Scott at 513.521.0622 to reserve a private audition by May 4th.
Rehearsals begin May 18th. Visit www.christianmusical.net for more info on the show and to view the script. This show will soon be licensed around the country and this is the chance to originate a role. There is also the possibility that a cast recording will be made.

Two Male Actors Needed for Eastbound Jungle
Two male actors are needed for last minute (re)casting of one act play, Eastbound Jungle, for 2008 Fringe Festival.
REHEARSALS: The rehearsal process begins Thursday, May 1st and continues until the opening of the Fringe Festival. Festival begins May 28th. Performance space and dates TBD. Rehearsals will be conducted at Northern Kentucky University. Small stipend available to performers. Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, 7-10:30 p.m. Some flexibility is available based on schedules of company.
ROLES NEEDED: SCRATCH......... Somber and brooding, he has recently turned from the dependable and solid figure he was known to be, into a shadow of his former self broken by guilt, fear, and paranoia. Early to mid 30's range.
RATCHET......... The patriarchal elder of the Hobo community. Rational and easy going, he is of a generation that no longer exists, and everyone knows it, including himself. 60-ish. Younger actors considered for this role based on ability to play age.
THE PLAYWRIGHT/SCRIPT: Eastbound Jungle is written by playwright Brad Cupples. In 2007, Mr. Cupples won the NKU YES Festival of New Plays and received a production of his play The Chester County Automatons. He is a talented and gifted young playwright.
The script is a one act play and runs roughly 75 minutes. The cast contains four characters, three men and one woman.
SYNOPSIS: Set in a small hobo "jungle" or camp, Eastbound Jungle follows a small group of hobos through a deeply tragic character driven story. These hobos have chosen a life of travel, freedom, and short term migrant work for themselves in opposition to the humdrum existence of "civilian" social obligations. They are a tight knit group depending only on each other to survive their travels. This small society is forever fractured with the accidental death of one of their own, a young girl named Harpy. Guilt, fear, and paranoia run rampant as the hobos search for someone to hold accountable. Ratchet Jack, the patriarchal leader seeks nothing less than to preserve the peace and camaraderie of the community. Though that seems less and less likely as tensions rise. Scratch is paranoid that the Brother of the dead girl will be coming to take his revenge. Cleaves, a manipulative parasite, plays on that fear seeking to turn Scratch against the reckless young Caleb whom she holds responsible for other crimes. As a battle for Scratch's sanity takes place between Ratchet Jack and Cleaves, new darker secrets are revealed that push the tension toward an exciting and shocking conclusion that will forever change the lives of all the characters.
INTERVIEW/AUDITION: To set up an interview/audition with the director (me), please email me at hattonm@nku.edu or call 859.866.2964 and leave a message with contact information. Please feel free to send a copy of your resume via email. Auditions will be scheduled at actor's availability and will continue until roles are cast.
If you or someone you know might be interested in this production, please forward this information to them.
Again, thanks for your time Michael Hatton hattonm@nku.edu |

Seeking Mature, Fatherly Singer/Actor
Seeking mature, fatherly singer/actor, age range 40-55, for a new musical revue to be presented in the Cincinnati Fringe Festival: Don't Make Me Pull This Show Over: Dispatches from the Front Lines of Parenting. Seeking a strong singer/actor for exciting new material, with the ability to sell a solo story song. Looking for interesting fatherly types. Vocal range negotiable.
Show blurb: There's no preparation for parenthood. It's a learn-as-you-go crash course in which we can all enroll, but from which we never graduate; a never ending commitment to a high wire balancing act. Don't Make Me Pull This Show Over – Dispatches from the Frontlines of Parenting is a wholly original 90 minute song cycle – a series of musical snapshots taken from unexpected angles, unanticipated reflections in a mirror that at times appear fractured in both hilarity and intensity. Whether we choose to be parents or not, we can't choose not to have them, and to question the choices all parents are forced to make.
Music by Richard Oberacker (Ace) Lyrics by Rob Taylor Directed by Richard Hess (Director of Critic's/Audience/and producer's Pick of the Fringe shows: Don't Look Down, (UN)Natural Disaster, The Catholic Girl's Guide to Losing Your Virginity, and The Kid in the Dark Musical direction by Terry LaBolt (Music Man, Little Shop of Horrors, The Sound of Music)

While their unseen spouses play golf in the dining room, the women exchange confidences for the first time revealing that all three marriages are on the brink of disaster and all three women are facing the challenges of their lives. Nicky's husband has been indicted for embezzlement, Molly's husband is stalking her and Debra's husband is leaving her for another woman. When the men mistakenly lock themselves in a basement meat locker the women are faced with a life-or-death decision—should they leave the men out in the cold—permanently—or let them thaw? One by one the women make their choices with more than a little help from one another.

Festival Presents Second Celebation of Minority Artists
Cincinnati New Light Festival will present its second reading series featuring works from local published and unpublished playwrights. The festival focuses on renewing and creating opportunities for ethnically diverse theatre artists by offering new and historic works that confront, tackle, and embrace the contemporary world in which we live.
The first Cincinnati New Light Festival was an amazing opportunity to witness the complete readings of August Wilson's ten-play cycle, the first of its kind in the tri-state area. The 2008 festival will include works from local playwrights, age 12 and up. We are looking for playwrights who would like to have their plays read before an audience. Attendees have included producers of Broadway productions, local and regional artistic directors, local politicians, and enthusiastic theatre-goers. If you are a minority (as determined by ethnicity or nationality) and would like to have your play considered for this year's reading, please send submissions to the Cincinnati New Light Festival at the address below. Local actors and directors interested in participating are also encouraged to send their headshots and resumes to the same address. Cincinnati New Light Festival c/o League of Cincinnati Theatres 1317 Main Street Cincinnati, OH 45202
Plays chosen will be based on their ability to attract assorted audiences and their capacity to retain a social vision that is a part of today's cultural heritage. In addition, they will represent Cincinnati's current and changing demographic. It is the Festival's goal to encourage artists to discover new elements of their own humanity through unique and varied artistic vehicles, which in turn, allows audiences to do the same.
Submission Guidelines: Best Time to Submit: March-July 2008 Response Time: 5-6 weeks Special Interest: Works should be a minimum of 10 minutes and no more than 120 minutes in length (performance reading may take place over a period of 2-3 days.)
